Dallas Mavericks Officially Fire Nico Harrison
Nico Harrison’s time as Dallas Mavericks general manager comes to an end after a turbulent run that included a Finals appearance — and the infamous Luka Dončić trade that fans never forgave.
It hasn’t been a smooth ride for Nico Harrison during his tenure as the Dallas Mavericks’ general manager. His time in Dallas included two trips to the Western Conference Finals and a 2024 NBA Finals appearance, but it was overshadowed by one of the most controversial moves in franchise history, trading Luka Dončić to the Lakers. Let’s not forget he didn’t extend Jalen Bronson, letting him go to New York in free agency. Fans never got over the decision, and chants of “Fire Nico!” occasionally echoed through the American Airlines Center.
A 3–8 start to the season, even after landing Cooper Flagg, only made things worse. Still, aside from the ill-fated Luka trade, Harrison proved he’s capable of operating at the highest level as a GM. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him get another opportunity with a new franchise soon. For now, the Mavericks are moving on, and Nico seems to be doing the same, updating his Instagram bio to reflect the change.
