Kendrick Lamar To Perform at The Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show
The NFL kicked off its first Sunday of full games, and the season started with a bang. For 18 weeks the NFL has the best product and sold out stadiums. Therefore, it’s not too early to start thinking about the Super Bowl LIX halftime show presented by Apple Music.
Today, Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL announced that Kendrick Lamar will be the performer for the upcoming Super Bowl in February. The Ws keep piling up for K-Dot, who just had an incredible Summer on the heels of his epic beef with Drake. He claimed the victory and had a fantastic show on Amazon that probably led to getting booked for this show.
The booking is surprising, considering Super Bowl LIX will be held in New Orleans, the hometown of Lil Wayne. We were expecting Weezy and Cash Money to take over halftime duties, but Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL had other plans. But these performances are full of surprises, so Weezy and Co. might make a surprise appearance. Kendrick has the hits and proved that his live show has improved over the past few years after an impressive show in L.A. that brought so many stars together. The internet had mixed reactions to the announcement, but we feel he deserved it. K-Dot has the discography, hits, and career longevity to take the stage for 15 minutes at the biggest game of the year.
If you are a Drake fan, this is terrible news for you. Imagine Kendrick performing “Not Like Us” during his halftime performance. That would be epic but it’s still unclear what tracks his team will pick for the epic performance.
Check out the announcement above, with a short clip directed by K-Dot’s longtime friend, Dave Free. You can check out his music at Apple Music if you are new to Kendrick Lamar.
