NBA Draft 2025: Cooper Flagg Picked First Overall, Full Round 1 Breakdown

NBA Draft

The future of the NBA begins now as the 2025 NBA Draft wrapped up its first round. This year’s class featured some big names, with the first overall pick going to the Dallas Mavericks—who shocked everyone after trading away their star, Luka Dončić. Despite having slim odds, the Mavs landed Cooper Flagg out of Duke. Rookies adjust quickly in today’s NBA, and Flagg will join a stacked roster featuring Kyrie Irving (expected to sign a 3-year, $119M extension), Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, and Brandon Williams. With that core, Dallas looks ready to compete in the loaded Western Conference.

Dylan Harper from Rutgers is heading to San Antonio to team up with Wemby as the second overall pick. V.J. Edgecombe, Kon Knueppel, and Ace Bailey round out the top five selections. Round 2 of the NBA Draft continues Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN, and there’s still plenty of talent left on the board. Check out the full first-round results below.
