NBA on NBC Returns and Michael Jordan Is Part of It
Michael Jordan is back on TV — but this time, not in a jersey. As the NBA returns to NBC for the first time in over two decades, Jordan joins the broadcast team for a special new segment, MJ: Insights, adding star power to an already exciting season opener.
The last time the NBA aired on NBC was back in 2002, but this season, the iconic theme music and network partnership are officially back. Opening night tipped off with a stacked doubleheader featuring the Oklahoma City Thunder, fresh off their championship win, hosting the Houston Rockets. Kevin Durant returned to OKC to face his former team, setting the stage for a raucous, emotional crowd.
The second matchup of the night showcased the Golden State Warriors against the Los Angeles Lakers, but the real headline was the return of the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan, to television. While he’s not suiting up, Jordan joins NBC’s broadcast team for a new on-air feature called MJ: Insights. He kicked off opening night with an exclusive sit-down interview with Mike Tirico, discussing his new role, his enduring love for the game, and why he’s focused on paying it forward to the next generation.
A perfect mix of nostalgia and fresh energy, this is exactly how you want to start a new NBA season. Watch the full interview above.
