Joey Chestnut Beats Takeru Kobayashi In Netflix Live Event

Joey Chestnut may have gotten kicked out of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest, but Netflix was opportunistic and set up a hot dog battle against his nemesis, Takeru Kobayashi. The Labor Day special was streamed live on Netflix and featured the two hot dog-eating champs going one-on-one.

Takeru Kobayashi was no match for Joey Chestnut, who ate 83 hot dogs in 10 minutes, breaking his own World Record. Joey was kicked out of the legendary Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest that goes down on the 4th of July for signing a deal with a weiner brand competitor. Takeru retired from competitive eating earlier this year but when Netflix jumped in for this special it brought him back to the competition. Smart move from Netflix as the event drew a lot of buzz on line and it will be interesting to see the streaming numbers if they become public.
