Apple Introduces Tap To Cash, Apple Intelligence, and Other Features

Apple kicked off the yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote delivered by their CEO, Tim Cook. With Artificial Intelligence being the center of attention worldwide, many expected Apple to join the movement and introduce some new AI features to their devices.

ChatGPT is here

They did just that by introducing Apple Intelligence set to launch in beta this fall, eventually integrating deeply into the company’s devices. This AI will assist with tasks ranging from advanced photo editing to crafting clear writing. Siri will also leverage Apple Intelligence to track a user’s plans, even if they’re not added to the calendar. The voice assistant will recognize plans mentioned in text messages and provide timely reminders with details on time and location. Also part of the AI revolution for Apple is their partnership with ChatGPT and Siri. OpenAI will power Siri, prompting users and asking their permission to use ChatGPT to get answers. There were many rumors that this partnership was coming, and today the two companies made it official.

Another standout additional feature that was introduced was the introduction of iOS18. This includes updates to Apple Maps, which now have a very cool detailed UI for users to get a better look at their routes. Tap to Cash is also another good feature that allows iPhone users the ability to pay another iPhone user by practically tapping the device. Some of these features may not seem too exciting for many and did not cause much movement for the stock, which saw a 2% decline for the day.

We are in the era of Artificial Intelligence, and companies need to adapt. Apple is just doing that with help from ChatGPT and evolving in this new generation by adding new AI features. The hope is to make the smartphone smarter. You can catch the full video of the keynote above and read the press release here.
