Canelo Álvarez Reclaims WBC Super Middleweight Title With Win Over Christian Mbilli — Highlights
Canelo vs. Mbilli Fight Highlights and Results
Canelo Álvarez returned to the ring for the first time since his unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford in September 2025 in Las Vegas, looking to become a champion again against Christian Mbilli, who held the WBC super middleweight title. Mbilli came out fast in the early rounds with heavy output, but not much of it landed cleanly or stopped Canelo. History has shown that the longer you stay in the ring with Canelo, the tougher the fight gets for you, and that’s exactly what happened.
Canelo took control in the second half, with his best round coming in the seventh, and Mbilli lost a point in the eighth for punching behind the head. From there, the veteran counterpunched his way to a textbook performance in the main event of the “Mexico vs. The World” card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, winning 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112 on the scorecards to take home the WBC super middleweight title. Canelo improved to 64-3-2 with 39 knockouts, while Mbilli suffered the first loss of his career and fell to 29-1-1. It’s a long way from his Sneaker Shopping appearance in 2019 and his trilogy fight with GGG in 2022, and he said the win felt like winning his first title again. Check out the highlights below.
