2022 wasn’t the best year for music albums.

A lot had to do with TikTok and Social Media creating dancing trends which has revolutionized the music industry. We selected our top 5 album and an honorable mention for 2022. It’s not based on streaming numbers or popularity, we just based it on what had the best body of work in our opinion and a well done album.

So check out our top picks for best Music Albums of 2022. No particular rank, just our top 5!

Beyoncé: Renaissance

Renaissance

Well enough said, it’s Beyonce.

She changed the vibes a bit and brought some house vibes to the new album. The production is on point and Beyonce was able to cook up some anthems that took over Social Media for months. Overall a very well done project and good vibes from Beyonce on this one.

Kendrick Lamar: Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

Kendrick Lamar

Sadly, this was Kendrick Lamar‘s last album on TDE.

A lot of anticipation for this album and K-Dot pretty much dropped it with no rollout. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is a complete album and he split it in two parts. For us this has no skips and his videos were always very cinematic with help from longtime collaborator Dave Free.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is a must listen and contender for best the Grammys Best Hip-Hop Album.

Dreamville & DJ Drama: D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape

Dreamville

The legendary DJ Drama drops makes this project special.

J. Cole has a stacked of talented artists on his label Dreamville. D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape dropped ahead of Dreamville fest and it’s loaded with bangers. DJ Drama hosted it and the entire Dreamville roster saved their best for this one. We are hoping for another solid year from Dreamville in 2023.

Also, a new J. Cole project wouldn’t hurt.

Bad Bunny

No other artist had quite the year Bad Bunny had.

From top of the Billboard charts to sold out arenas world wide. Un Verano Sin Ti was the album he needed to take his career to the next level. This album competed on top of the charts almost all year and was filled with standout tracks. Proving the latin wave is here to stay.

Ari Lennox – Age/Sex/Location

age/sex/location

Ari Lennox quietly dropped Age/Sex/Location.

Dreamville’s first lady slowed things down to close the third quarter with her latest album. The production is on point on this album and it has the vibes we needed to get us prepared for the Holiday season.

Honorable Mention: Drake & 21 Savage – Her Loss

Drake and 21 Savage

Drake was coming off a mid project with Honestly, Nevermind.

But he redeemed himself by teaming up with 21 Savage and give fans Her Loss. Two Drake albums is one year so fans can’t complain.

Her Loss was the one and the rollout was smooth. Delayed a bit but it had bangers and set the internet on fire for nearly a month. The videos were creative and spoofed several shows for trolling purposes. We had to give it an honorable mention since it made a lot of noise late in the year.
