Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan Team Up on “expectations”

Olivia Rodrigo is officially in her remix era, tapping her former tour opener Chappell Roan for a new version of her hit single “expectations.” The original lives on her third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which dropped in June. The remix marks Rodrigo’s first official remix and Roan’s first-ever feature credit on another artist’s song. It was produced by their mutual collaborator Dan Nigro, and the two have been close for years. Roan has performed live with Olivia before, and both artists have been on a hot streak lately, including Chappell’s recent performances of “Pink Pony Club” and her new song “The Giver.”

The official music video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, is built around an old-school game show hosted by David Byrne. It’s a fun, retro-flavored visual that matches the song’s ’80s new wave energy. This one is going to make some noise and trend on social media. Check out the video above.
