Apple Unveils iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5 and More
Apple unveils its first-ever foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5, and new Apple Watches at its September event, marking John Ternus’s debut keynote as CEO.
Apple held its annual September event at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, marking John Ternus’s first keynote as CEO. There had been a lot of speculation about a foldable iPhone, and Apple delivered. The company now joins major manufacturers like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Google’s Pixel Fold in the foldable space. It feels like Apple felt the pressure from competitors, and we’ll see if users are there for this fancy device, which features a 5.4″ cover display, a 7.6″ inner display, the A20 Pro chip, and a titanium frame, with pricing starting at $1,999.
The regular iPhone also got an upgrade with the introduction of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Battery and chip performance take a big step forward with the A20 Pro chip, a new variable mechanical aperture camera, and fresh colors in glacier and burgundy, following last year’s iPhone Air launch.
The AirPods also got an upgrade with a new H3 chip. The AirPods 5 are priced at $129 with Active Noise Cancellation — actually a price drop from the AirPods 4’s $179 ANC model, a rare move for Apple. The event, which Apple had teased weeks in advance, also introduced the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, redesigned Siri and Apple Intelligence features, and iOS 27.
