Caleb Williams Revealed as the Cover Athlete for Madden NFL 27

Caleb Williams delivered a breakout sophomore campaign in 2025, leading the Chicago Bears to an 11-6 record, an NFC North title, and a deep playoff run under head coach Ben Johnson. Now, the rising star quarterback is adding another major accomplishment to his résumé after being named the cover athlete for Madden NFL 27.
Williams becomes the first player in Chicago Bears history to appear on the cover of the main Madden NFL video game. The only other Bear to receive Madden cover recognition was offensive lineman Roberto Garza, who appeared on the Spanish-language version of Madden NFL 09.
Last season, Williams showcased tremendous growth as a passer, displaying improved patience in the pocket while continuing to make the explosive plays that made him one of the league’s most exciting young quarterbacks. His rapid ascent has positioned him as one of the new faces of the NFL and a cornerstone of the Bears’ future.
Of course, NFL fans know all about the infamous “Madden Curse.” Recent cover athletes such as Saquon Barkley on Madden NFL 26 and Christian McCaffrey on Madden NFL 25 have carried the spotlight that comes with the honor. Now, all eyes will be on Williams to see if he can build on his success and avoid the curse.
Madden NFL 27 launches worldwide on August 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC according to EA Sports.
