UFC 301: Pantoja vs Erceg Preview + Odds

UFC 301

UFC 301 heads to Rio De Janeiro. Brazil knows how to host events, and Rio will be ready to see their fighters shine.

In the co-main event, Brazil fans will get a possible final look at Hall of Famer Jose Aldo against a powerful knockout puncher, Jonathan Martinez. This an exciting Bantamweight bout as Jonathan Martinez looks to move up the ranks and Jose Aldo looks to close a fantastic UFC career. This one will be electric to watch as the home crowd will back up their guy throughout the fight.

The main event is filled with fireworks. Alexandre Pantoja defends his Flyweight belt against a very dangerous Steve Erceg, who has earned a shot at the title after a 12-1 record and solid fights. The Perth, Australia, native is exceptionally technical and can handle punches. But seeing how he handles Pantoja’s pressure and ground game will be interesting. Once Pantoja gets his fighters to the ground, he tends to wear them out and eventually submit them, but if Erceg can stay on his feet, it will be a long night for the champ. The champ also has the local crowd on his side, providing a boost of adrenaline, so he has the advantage there. This will be electric.

There are a couple of fights worth watching at UFC 301. One of them is Anthony Smith vs. Vitor Petrino. Anthony Smith is a veteran fighter, and if he loses this fight, it might mark the end of his illustrious UFC career. Another fight to watch out for is Paul Craig vs. Caio Borralho. Both fighters aim to move up the Middleweight ranks. Veteran Karolina Kowalkiewicz takes on a promising young talent, Iasmin Lucindo, and she looks to stop the momentum from the young fighter. This is going to be a great card.
